SEC Signworks has recently merged with Gordon Engraving and we celebrated by holding an Open Day at the end of March. We also used the event to commemorate Gordon Engraving’s 50th anniversary.

Local businesses made the most of this unusual opportunity to visit behind the scenes as we opened our doors to reveal the complex processes behind the production of perspex and acrylic creations, laser and commercial cutting and much more.

James Wilford, of YMS Travel, who attended the Open Day, said: “You see some amazing signs outside shops and businesses and many of them are very creative. It was fascinating to see how these are made and some of the clever techniques involved. I was also very interested in the processes behind the acrylic products made by Gordon Engraving, from canapé trays to awards trophies!”

Jamie Thomson, director of SEC Signworks, said: “There are some highly skilled and experienced staff working for our new joint venture and they really enjoyed the opportunity to show off their skills. Visitors appreciated seeing them at work and it was a very enjoyable day.”

The Open Day raised funds for two local charities - Macmillan Crossroads which supports people with cancer and the Martha Trust which works with people with profound disabilities - by selling handmade Perspex items including coasters and mobile phone stands.
The merger between Gordon Engraving and SEC Signworks creates a major new provider of business signage in Kent, specialising in vehicle graphics, shop fascias, signs, engraving and plastics.
